Recycle Your Electricals in Brighton Today

Brighton & Hove is buzzing with eco-friendly initiatives, and recycling small electrical items is a fantastic way to contribute to our vibrant community’s sustainability efforts. If you have old kettles, lamps, or any gadgets with plugs, batteries, or cables that you no longer need, recycling them is a breeze in our city.

With 19 out of 80 recycling points specifically for electricals, plus two household waste recycling sites, Brighton & Hove makes it simple to dispose of these items responsibly. Look out for bins with pink lids where you can drop off everything from mobile phones and laptops to toasters and electric toothbrushes.

Councillor Tim Rowkins, our Cabinet member for Net Zero and Environmental Services, highlights the importance of tackling the UK’s fastest-growing waste stream: waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). He encourages residents to explore options like donating to charity shops, selling online, or visiting a repair café. And if reusing isn’t an option, recycling is the way to go!

Did you know that 2 million people in the UK throw away a small electrical appliance each year? This not only clutters our landfills but also wastes valuable resources like copper. So, let’s change that narrative in Brighton & Hove!

Remember, batteries and vapes can be hazardous if not disposed of properly. Always remove batteries and recycle them at participating retailers. Vapes should be returned to retailers or taken to recycling sites. For lamps, remove bulbs before recycling, as they can be dropped off at household waste sites or select retailers.
