Discover Dragons Through Dance in Brighton

Brighton is about to be swept off its feet with a dazzling display of dance, music, and mythical storytelling as the Eun-Me Ahn Dance Company brings “Dragons” to the Brighton Dome on March 4-5. This is the longest UK tour yet for South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn, promising a joyful riot of non-stop movement and cultural exploration.

In this innovative production, Eun-Me Ahn’s dancers share the stage with projections of five young performers from across Asia—Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and Taiwan. These talented individuals, all born in the year of the Dragon, bring fresh perspectives on how the past and future can coexist harmoniously.

While dragons are often feared in Western mythology, in Asia, they symbolise lightness, joy, and optimism. This theme is beautifully captured in Taeseok Lee’s vibrant projections, which transform the stage into a living canvas of forests and clouded skies. The evocative soundtrack by Jang Young-Gyu blends contemporary pop and electronic music with traditional scores, creating an auditory feast for the audience.

Eun-Me Ahn explains that dragons represent adventure and hope, embodying dreams and the journey towards the future. This production not only celebrates these mythical creatures but also the unity of young dancers from diverse Asian cultures, who interact as holograms with Eun-Me Ahn’s company of seven South Korean dancers.

As we look forward to this extraordinary event, it’s a reminder of the rich tapestry of culture and creativity that Brighton offers. And if you’re considering a move to this vibrant city, we at Sawyer & Co would be delighted to help you find your perfect home amidst such inspiring surroundings.
