Brighton’s Festive Afternoon: Christmas Magic Awaits

As the festive season approaches, Brighton is gearing up to transform into a winter wonderland with its much-anticipated Festive Afternoon. Scheduled for Saturday, November 16, from 2pm to 6pm, this enchanting event promises to sprinkle Christmas magic throughout North Laine and The Lanes.

Picture this: choirs serenading shoppers with Christmas carols, festive helpers spreading cheer and goodies, and the city aglow with twinkling lights. The highlight of the afternoon will undoubtedly be the grand switch-on of the Brilliant Brighton Christmas lights, a dazzling display funded by 517 local businesses. This year, the lights will feature charming reindeer, owls, and foxes in North Laine, while North Street will be graced by quirky alien designs.

Adding a touch of friendly competition, the event will also host the annual window dressing contest. Locals can cast their votes for the most festive shopfront, with a chance to win a £75 Brighton gift card. It’s a delightful way to engage the community and support local businesses while enjoying the festive spirit.

Shelley Welti, marketing and events manager for Brilliant Brighton, expressed her excitement: “Our Festive Afternoon will be a wonderful way to celebrate the start of the festivities. We hope the festivities bring smiles to everyone’s faces as they shop, dine, and enjoy the start of the season in Brilliant Brighton.”

And the festive fun doesn’t stop there! From December 5 to Christmas Eve, St Peter’s Square will host the Brighton Winter Fayre, offering a market, grotto, workshops, and a central hub of local food and drink.

Stay tuned for more details as Brighton prepares to dazzle and delight this holiday season!
